Choosing a Lettering Supplier for Repeat Orders
Choosing a Lettering Supplier for Repeat Orders
A repeat order should start from a recognizable specification, not a request to make “the same as last time.” Assess how a supplier identifies approved artwork, records dimensions and handles later changes. These details matter when a replacement piece or another vehicle needs to match the original project.
Ask how the original job is identified
Find out which reference you will need for a reorder: the order number, artwork revision or another identifier. Retain your own copy of the approved proof and specification as well. An old product listing or a photograph may not contain enough information to reproduce the supplied configuration.
Clarify what can change
A repeat order may involve a new tire, a different quantity or a revised logo. Ask how these changes are handled and whether they require a new proof or quote. Keeping the original artwork does not eliminate the need to check fit on a different setup.
| Supplier question | Useful answer |
|---|---|
| Which reference identifies my design? | A specific order or artwork identifier |
| How are revised dimensions recorded? | A new, distinguishable proof revision |
| Can separate components be reordered? | Availability for the actual design, rather than a general assumption |
| What if a material or color changes? | A process for informing the customer and approving the alternative |
Evaluate communication with a concrete request
Instead of asking whether reorders are easy, describe a plausible future requirement. For example, you may need one additional wordmark for a replacement tire or a second set at a different width. Ask what information would be required to quote that job. This reveals the process without requiring the supplier to promise availability indefinitely.
Maintain your own reorder packet
Keep the final proof, dimensions, color assignments, quantities and tire references in one folder. Add the installation and later replacement records. If someone else manages the next order, this packet lets them explain what should stay the same and what needs to change.
For a repeat custom lettering enquiry, send the original order reference with the updated requirement. Ask for confirmation of the current configuration and availability before treating an old approval as authorization to produce a modified design.
